Celebrating the music of American Immigrants, in memory of Karel Husa
Since 1903, a sonnet titled The New Colossus (1883) by American poet Emma Lazarus has been inscribed on a plaque at the base of the Statue of Liberty, often first sight seen by the over 12 million people who immigrated to the United States from war-torn Europe to the 20th century. Join us as we celebrate some of the great composers amongst those who immigrated to America, each contributing what is now a cornerstone of the wind repertoire. This performance is dedicated to the remarkable legacy of Karel Husa.
